Editor-in-Chief and Creative Director  Darrick Rainey
Darrick Rainey is the EIC and Creative Director for the LA Weekly. A Hollywood native with an obsession for underground art and music, began his career with a background in art direction for advertising and marketing. His alt-weekly addiction started in San Francisco for the SF Weekly and, upon his arrival to the LA Weekly as Creative Director, he continued to design and manage award winning creative for the Seattle Weekly, Denver Westword, Phoenix New Times, OC Weekly and The Village Voice.

Music Editor  Brett Callwood
Some say he was forged in the fiery pits of Asgard, while others believe that a Disney princess wished him to life. The truth is somewhere in-between, and yet completely unrelated (he was spawned in the north of England). Callwood’s life in music journalism began when, after attending numerous dive bar shows and driving friends to distraction with his endless observations, one of those friends convinced him to write that gold dust down, probably so that he’d leave them alone. It worked — Callwood wrote for UK magazines such as Kerrang!, Metal Hammer, Classic Rock and Bizarre, and wrote biographies of the MC5 and The Stooges, before relocating to the United States. In Detroit, Callwood worked his way up to the position of music editor at the Metro Times alternative weekly. His byline has also appeared in the SF Weekly, OC Weekly, Tucson Weekly and Denver Westword alt weeklies, and national publications/websites such as Music Connection, idobi Radio and Alternative Press. He believes that the music editor position at any city’s alt weekly is the best job in that city, and to hold that responsibility in Los Angeles is an incredible honor. He lives with his beautiful wife and son in Long Beach, and he can’t believe his luck.

Culture & Entertainment Editor  Lina Lecaro
Lina Lecaro is LA Weekly’s Culture & Entertainment Editor. She has been a contributor and columnist at the Weekly for over 2 decades. She has written two books, Los Angeles’ Best Dive Bars and Never Mind the Rules. She covers nightlife, fashion, news, film and TV, music, art, shopping and events here and for other publications including Playboy, Billboard, Variety, Consequence of Sound and the WOW Report. Her radio show “Hot Licks with Lina,” broadcasts every Sunday from 2-4pm PST on Luxuriamusic.com. She was recently nominated for “Journalist of the Year” by the Los Angeles Press Club. She is a proud Latina, LA native, liberal, feminist and mother. Follow her on Twitter and Instagram (@LinaLecaro).

Arts Editor  Shana Nys Dambrot
Shana Nys Dambrot is an art critic, curator, and author based in Downtown LA. She is the Arts Editor for the LA Weekly, and an award-winning contributor to Flaunt, Art and Cake, Artillery, and Palm Springs Life. She studied Art History at Vassar College, writes essays for books and catalogs, curates and juries a few exhibitions each year, is a dedicated Instagram photographer and author of experimental short fiction, and speaks at galleries, schools, and cultural institutions nationally.

Food Editor  Michele Stueven
A native Angelena, Michele Stueven is L.A. Weekly’s Food Editor and has been a personal chef, caterer, food stylist and blogger in Los Angeles. She studied Journalism at California State University Northridge before moving on to the Associated Press and Time Inc., where she produced award-winning multimedia content across platforms. She’s a farmer’s market fixture (and paparazzo) frequenting markets across the city, celebrating seasonal ingredients and the restaurants that serve them. When she’s not picking strawberries and tomatoes in Oxnard or fishing for lingcod off the Channel Islands, you’ll find her giving regular cooking demonstrations at the state of the art demo kitchen at Bloomingdale’s in the Westfield Century City Mall or moderating conferences on food and wellness and the future of food sustainability in L.A.
